Big Savings On New Santa Fe

Getting a good discount on the new Hyundai Santa Fe four-wheel-drive has not been easy.

Now, however, you can save more than $5200 at Sydney City Hyundai at Alexandria. The dealer is moving to nearby Waterloo and its best deal is on the high-grade 2.7-litre, V6, five-speed manual Santa Fe Elite five-seater at $42,990 drive-away, a saving of $3497. Four-speed automatic adds $2000.

Sydney City Hyundai is also throwing in a portable Navman satellite navigation system, a portable DVD player and free 24-hour roadside assistance on all new cars sold before the end of trading tomorrow. Total value is $1737.

The four-speed, automatic-only 2.7-litre, V6 Santa Fe seven-seat 4WD is available from the same dealer for $39,990 drive-away, a saving of $3407. This model also gains the $1737 in free accessories if bought by close of business tomorrow.

Released in June, the new Santa Fe introduced smart new styling, more interior space and an extensive equipment list. It comes with eight airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability program, cruise control, air-conditioning, a CD player and lap-sash seat belts for all five or seven seats.

Other features include a tilt- and reach- adjustable steering wheel, front and rear foglights, five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels, steering-wheel audio controls, roof rails, and power windows and mirrors. The Santa Fe Elite adds leather-faced seats and door inserts, climate-control air-conditioning, 10-way power driver's seat and a four-way power passenger's seat, a power sunroof and six-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels.

Despite the addition of variable valve timing to the engine, the latest Santa Fe has been criticised for a lack of low-down torque. However, a new more powerful 3.3-litre V6 is due, along with a new turbo-diesel model.

Santa Fe sales in this country are 16 per cent ahead of last year, despite overall Hyundai sales falling marginally behind last year - down 0.8 per cent so far this year.

In world terms, Hyundai is ranked sixth, with sales last year of 3,715,096 taking it ahead of Nissan, Peugeot-Citroen, Honda and Renault.

Sydney City Hyundai also has a sharp deal on the smaller two-wheel-drive Tucson five-seater. Pay $26,500 drive-away and save $3507 and also get the $1737 free accessories package.
